This website does not use third-party client-side tracking tools. In particular, Google Analytics, the Facebook Pixel and the LinkedIn Insight Tag are not used. Technical access data may nevertheless be processed as part of web hosting and server-side website statistics; details are provided in Sections 4 and 5.

03Contact by email

When you contact me by email, I process the data you provide — in particular your name, email address and message — solely to handle your enquiry and any subsequent communication. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where the enquiry concerns the conclusion or performance of a contract; otherwise it is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Providing these data is necessary in order to handle your enquiry. The data are not used for advertising purposes and are retained only for as long as required to process the enquiry and comply with statutory retention obligations.

04Web hosting and server log files

This website is hosted by Host Europe GmbH. When the website is accessed, the web server processes technically necessary access data. These may include the IP address, date and time of access, requested file or URL, amount of data transferred, HTTP status code, referrer URL and information about the browser or operating system used.

The processing serves to provide the website securely and reliably, analyse errors and prevent abusive access. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The retention period for the underlying server log files depends on the log-file retention settings configured with the hosting provider.

05Website statistics with Webalizer 2

The Webalizer 2 tool provided by Host Europe GmbH in its customer portal is used for server-side analysis of website access. The analysis is based on server log files generated by the hosting service. Depending on the report, page views, requested URLs, entry and exit pages, referrers, browser identifiers, search terms and access times may be evaluated.

According to Host Europe GmbH, Webalizer uses the IP address, among other data, to determine visits: page views from the same IP address within a period of up to 30 minutes are assigned to one visit. The evaluations are available only to the website operator in the Host Europe customer portal and are used for technical and statistical analysis and to improve the website. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Webalizer operates on the server side. No tracking script is loaded in the browser, no tracking cookies are set and no separate browser-based analytics provider is integrated.

06Recipients and external links

Host Europe GmbH is engaged as a technical service provider for hosting and operation. Data collected through this website are not otherwise disclosed for analytics or marketing purposes unless described elsewhere in this policy.

The website contains a link to my LinkedIn profile. A connection to LinkedIn is established only when you click this link. LinkedIn’s Privacy Policy applies to any subsequent processing by LinkedIn.

07Cookies and protected PDF download

The website does not use tracking cookies or other persistent cookies. When the protected PDF download is used, a technically necessary session cookie is set only after an access code has been entered. It is used exclusively to authorise the download for a limited period, is not used for analytics or marketing, and is deleted when the browser session ends.

08Your rights

Where the statutory requirements are met, you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability. Where processing is based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, you also have the right to object to the processing on grounds relating to your particular situation.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for the controller’s registered location is, in particular, the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia.
